The difference between Lora and ZigBee

There are many wireless technologies used in the Internet of things, which can form LAN or wan. The WLAN technology mainly consists of 2.4GHz, WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee and so on. The wireless technology of Wan is mainly 2G/3G/4G and so on. These wireless technology, the advantages and disadvantages are very obvious, can be summarized as below. Before the generation of Area (Low Power Wide Network LPWAN), it seems that distance and low power consumption can only be chosen between two. When using LPWAN technology, designers can do both, achieve maximum distance communication and lower power consumption, and save additional repeater costs.

LoRa is one of the LPWAN communication technologies. It is an ultra long distance wireless transmission scheme based on spread spectrum technology adopted and popularized by American Semtech company. This scheme changes the tradeoff between transmission distance and power consumption in the past, and provides a simple system that can realize long distance, long battery life and large capacity, and then extend the sensing network. Currently, LoRa mainly operates in the global free spectrum, including 433, 868, 915, MHz and so on.
LoRa technology has the characteristics of long distance, low power consumption (long battery life), multi node and low cost.

ZigBee technology is a short-range, low complexity, low power, low rate, low-cost two-way wireless communication technology.
The utility model is mainly used for data transmission between short distance, low power consumption and low transmission rate, and has the typical application of periodic data, intermittent data and low response time data transmission.

ZigBee is a wireless connection, can work in the 2.4GHz (global epidemic), 868MHz (Europe) and 915 MHz (American pop) 3 bands, respectively, with the highest transmission rate of 250kbit/s, 20kbit/s and 40kbit/s, the transmission distance is in the range of 10-75m, but can continue to increase.
